Philadelphia Bike Patrol Officer Injured in Car Accident

A Philadelphia police officer was injured after getting hit by a motor vehicle in the Juniata section of Philadelphia, PA.

The Philly cop, who serves as a bike patrol officer, was riding his bicycle on the 3900 block of Whitaker Avenue in Juniata, Pennsylvania when he was struck by a passing motor vehicle.

After being injured in the car accident, the victim was treated at the scene by emergency medical responders and then transported to a nearby hospital by police. Doctors at the medical facility provided further medical treatment to the victim. Hospital officials later issued a statement indicating that the injured police officer sustained minor injuries and that he should be “okay.”

Law enforcement is currently investigating the accident. At this time, police have not provided many details about the events leading up to the car crash.

Depending on the circumstances of the car accident, it is possible that the driver of the vehicle that hit the Philly police officer could be subject to traffic citations and criminal charges.

It is also very possible that the vehicle driver could be sued for damages in a personal injury lawsuit. For instance, the injured Philadelphia cop could potentially seek compensation for his medical bills, rehabilitation expenses, and any pain and suffering that he suffers as he deals with a difficult recovery process. Of course, the other driver’s liability could potentially be offset by any money that the injured officer gets through the workers’ compensation process.
